Australia beat England in the fifth test match of The Ashes Series, by a long margin of 281 runs at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday to secure a 5-0 series sweep. This is the third time in the history of Ashes that either side had completely whitewashed the other , after the 1920-21 and 2006-07 triumphs.
For the winning side , George Bailey put paid to those hopes when he took a brilliant catch after a Harris delivery had taken an inside edge and looped over his head off Pietersen’s pad. While Australia’s bowlers continue to make life difficult for England’s batsmen on a green-tinged pitch, the tourists’ bowlers had failed to make early inroads into the Australian order after reducing them to 140 for four overnight.  Mitchell Johnson, Peter Siddle and Ryan Harris  took 3 wickets each and Nathan Lyon also helped by bowling .
While in the batting order, Nathan Lyon and certain tay-lenders like Peter Siddle and Ryan Harris and all-rounder Mitchell Johnson contributed alot to the total of 448. Chris Rogers knock of 119 was the main key in the Australia’s massive score been scored .
For losing side, England captain Alastair Cook had concluded his contribution to the series when he was caught behind for seven, Ian Bell was dismissed for 16 and Kevin Pietersen departed for six.
